Restock!
Posted by mtlaise - 26/01/12 at 10:01:49 amWe thought we’d let all our crafty friends know that we’re now restocked on Malabrigo yarn (new colours too), and several knitting/crochet notions, such as locking or split ring stitch markers, mini measuring tapes, bent tip tapestry needles, etc…If you like large needles, we’ve brought in a few more of the larger sized 16″ circulars and interchangeable tips in both wood and nickel – up to US size 17 (12 mm).
We’re also gauging interest on a few larger tools, so we’ve got a couple ball winders and swifts available now, too.
Do you SOAK?
Posted by mtlaise - 21/11/11 at 04:11:04 pmWe just got in some new stock that we think you all will love!
Do you love SOAK wash as much as I do? It’s a fabulous no rinse cleanser for your hand-knits and delicates, that comes in several wonderful scents, as well as a scentless version. We just got in bottles in Aquae, Celebration, Lacey and Scentless varieties. We’ve also got single use packages in several scents, which are great for travel or stocking stuffers, or even just to try out a new scent.
The most exciting part for me, though, is SOAK’s new foot cream: Heel. We opened up a pot to use as a tester, and it’s fabulous! Their tag line is “Heel: For feet worthy of hand-knit socks”. I can see why. It’s rich and luxurious without being greasy at all, and smells amazing. Come check it out.
Needles… needles everywhere!
Posted by mtlaise - 13/11/11 at 10:11:40 pmKnitting needles, that is!
Yup, you heard it here first. We’ve installed our slat wall, and now have a lovely little display of needles next to the scrumptious yarn. We’ve currently got DPN’s in sock sizes to go with all that fabulous sock yarn, as well as fixed and interchangeable circular needles (in rosewood, laminated birch or metal). We’ve also got sets! Whether you’re looking for a small set to try out circular needles, or a deluxe set with all the most common needle or crochet hook sizes, we’ve got them!
Do you love smooth, sleek metal needles? Or are you partial to the warmth of a wooden needle in your hand? Do you like to try things that are a little different (cubic needles anyone)? Then, you should pop in to Faking Sanity this week and check out all the new goodies! Oh, and did I mention the assortment of handy knitting tools?
There are a few more surprises on the way, too, so do pop in, or watch this space for new arrivals in the coming weeks!
Mmmmm…. malabrigo!
Posted by mtlaise - 25/10/11 at 06:10:44 pmFaking Sanity now has 100% more yarn! Do you love sock yarn? From yarn infused with aloe and jojoba to moisturize your hands as you knit to modern fibers like chitin and soy, and from basic Ranco to luxurious Malabrigo, we’ve got it!
We’ll have an assortment of cool new needles and accessories in the coming weeks, but we thought we would tempt you with our pretty woollies in the interim!
Knitting 101… and more!
Posted by mtlaise - 20/10/11 at 11:10:56 amOn Monday, we held the first session of this fall’s Knitting 101 class (intro to knitting), and it was an absolute blast. It’s a larger class this time around, so I recruited some help, and it was a great success. I can’t wait for Monday to roll around again! I also got to rave about Ravelry as part of the class, which is awesome in all sorts of ways. I think the best part was how enthusiastic everyone was. We provided a 50 gram ball of yarn to start, and one student asked if she knit the whole thing between the first and second class, whether she should tear it all out or if she could get more yarn.
Faking Sanity, which started as hand-dyed yarns and knitting accessories before it was a bookstore/cafe, is returning to its roots. We’re just waiting on our last shipments to arrive, and in the next few weeks, we’ll be rolling out our new yarn and knitting section! We’ll have an assortment of sock and lace weight yarns to start, from pretty but basic Araucania Ranco, to luxurious Malabrigo, to yarns with a more modern twist, such as Tofutsies, or Austermann Step, which is infused with aloe and jojoba. And lots more to come, so stay tuned! We’ll also be carrying an assortment of interchangeable circular needle styles, dpns and crochet hooks. The most exciting addition to the needles for me, though, is the cubic circular needle. I just played with a sample one for a bit last night, and I think I might love it!
We’ll be posting an announcement once we launch this, but wanted to give our loyal readers the opportunity to hear it here first!
In somewhat related news, we’ll be starting a Ravelry group for the shop to discuss all things knitterly, so let us know if you would like an invite to the group once it’s up and running.
