Tea time!

I just love the variety of styles for tea infusers, and I have to admit, I have a soft spot for the slightly whimsical ones. We’ve gotten a few in recently that I just love. What do you think? My favourite is the diver – he even comes with a little tray to set him on after removing him from your cup, so he doesn’t drip all over the table.

New Tea Tins… and New Teas!

We got new sample tins in, allowing us to fit a few more teas out for you to try! And we’ll be adding several more teas and custom blends over the coming weeks.

Today, we’ve got two new ones for you: a Roasted Mate and Regeneration herbal tea. Mate is produced from a shrub in the holly family. It is loaded with vitamins and anti-oxidants and provides a good buzz without the jitters often associated with caffeine (mate contains mateine). The Regeneration tea is an herbal blend of lemon peel, lemongrass, raspberry leaves, chamomile, apple, cinnamon, roasted chicory root, ginger, cardamom, fennel, cloves and rose hips.

Dawson Winters are Here!

Don’t worry though… you’ll love our Dawson Winters. They’re yummy, piping hot, warm-your-soul tea lattes! If you haven’t tried this tea latte made with our custom Fireside blend, now’s the perfect time. It’s a great mix of black tea infused with cinnamon and orange oils, with cloves, cardamom, ginger and a hint of peppermint, all steeped in wintery white steamed milk.

I have to admit that I’m a little partial to it. I came up with the blend because these spices remind me of baking for Christmas back east. And being the crazy French Canadian that I am, I felt it needed a quirky/shocking name!

Come try one; it’s sure to warm you up on this cold, blustery day.

Drunken Moose anyone?

That got your attention didn’t it?

We’ve now got take home sample packs of all our teas in convenient individual sizes. There are over 30 varieties to choose from including both our Steeps teas, as well as our own custom blended Faking Sanity teas, like Drunken Moose black tea (blended specifically to taste great in the wide range of waters we have here in Canada). They’re the perfect size for gift baskets or to carry in your purse as an emergency tea stash, or even just to try a new flavour.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab a little package of Chocolate Caramel Truffle, Orange Berry Passion, Licorice Fennel, Rooibos or Classic Earl Grey, traditional Sencha Green tea, or classic Orange Pekoe… or even a little Drunken Moose. You know you want to!

Tea 101: Faking Sanity’s Own Casablanca Nights

They’re heeeeeere! The first of our very own custom tea blends!

Come take a stroll with us through a bustling evening market in Casablanca… Our “Casablanca Nights” blends the smooth round cup typical of highland grown orange pekoe black teas with all manner of berries and fruit. It’s much lighter in flavour than a plain black tea usually is due to all the fruit, and has just enough sweetness to make it work great both as a traditional hot tea and as an iced tea.

If you’re wondering what’s in it, there’s a traditional orange pekoe black tea blended with apples, berries, kiwi, rosehips, passion fruit, hibiscus, and petals from roses, passion flowers and cornflowers. A perfect summer tea!

Come try it out, and stay tuned for other Faking Sanity custom tea blends!

Tea 101: Introducing Faking Sanity Blends!

Well, we’ve been posting in our “Tea 101” category for over two months now. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading along with us about tea varieties and traditional tea blends. Our last set of posts in this Tea 101 category will be introducing some of our own Faking Sanity teas.

Have you ever had difficulty choosing between two teas that sound equally good? While some flavours just don’t go well together, others seem like they were made for each other. We’ve been testing out blends throughout the winter and we have some suggestions we hope you’ll love as much as we do. From more traditional black or green tea blends to mixing herbals and regular tea for a refreshingly different iced tea, we’ve got you covered.

We’ll be posting about our custom Faking Sanity blends over the next few posts, but we also know some of our regulars have been experimenting at home with personal tea blends, so feel free to share your own favourite concoctions too!
