We made it!
Posted by mtlaise - 30/12/10 at 02:12:07 pmToday is the last day of our first fiscal year! Woo! In many ways, we’ve settled into our routine and it feels like we’ve been doing this for ages; in others, it feels like we’ve just begun. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 months.
We’re closed for the holiday, so we’ll see everyone in 2011. Next year for us will hopefully see several new ventures in the shop. Before Faking Sanity was a cafe and bookstore, we also tried our hand at hand-dyed knitting yarns and chain mail stitch markers and jewellery. We’ll be bringing those into the shop in the new year. We’re also hoping to host a couple of art shows this winter and spring, and bring in some handmade jewellery from another local artisan. We’re working on a few other things too, so stay tuned!
Merry Christmas
Posted by mtlaise - 23/12/10 at 10:12:59 amFor those of you who celebrate Christmas, we hope you have a great one! And to everyone, we wish a happy and healthy new year.
We will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, so come in today if youstill need some last minute gifts for the tea or coffee lover on your list. Or pick up a few books and goodies for yourself.
‘Tis the Season
Posted by mtlaise - 15/12/10 at 02:12:55 pmWe’ve gotten in a lot of new stock at the store in recent weeks – some pretty cool stuff, too, if I do say so myself! The travel tea/coffee presses are very cool. There are plastic or steel ones, and they come in a variety of colours. I’m all about convenience, so I find this pretty awesome. I liked them so much I got one of the steel ones for myself and I LOVE it. You really can’t beat being able to brew or steep your coffee or tea on the go, and drink it too, all in the same cup.
We’ve also got a selection of mugs, travel mugs, tea presses, tea balls, tins, flavoured honey sticks and the like. There’s a wide variety with something for everyone – whether it’s a little stocking stuffer for a coffee lover, a giant gift basket for a tea fanatic or even as hostess gift for one of the many Christmas parties this time of year. We also have gift certificates in any denomination, and can customize gift baskets for just about any dollar range.
Come check it out!
Missed it…
Posted by mtlaise - 10/12/10 at 03:12:21 pmI started writing a post a few weeks ago about having been in business for 2 months! And forgot to finish and/or post it. I’ll make sure to catch the next landmark, though. On Christmas Day, we’ll have been open 3 months (except that we’re closed on the holiday, of course)!
This afternoon, I made a sugar pie from memory. If I remembered the recipe correctly, it will be on the menu for tomorrow. This time of year always makes me yearn for a big kitchen and the time to bake, like my gramma did all through December when I was a kid. It was kind of nice to have a quiet afternoon at the store today, and start doing exactly that!
